The book got good in the middle near the end. Sadie takes the fall for her older sister Carla, so Lulu, Carla's daughter wouldn't be without a mother. The Juvie characters are forgettable. This book needs a sequel.

When Sadie Windas agrees to takes the blame for her sister's mistake she does it to keep her sister out of jail and to protect her niece from growing up without a mother. The lawyer promises that since she is a juvenile without a prior record the worst she will get is 6 months probation and some community service...so when the judge sentences her to 6 months at a juvenile detention facility, Sadie feels betrayed. But what is done is done, and now she must live up to her choice.
