I loved the title "Engines of the Broken World" and expected apocalyptic/dystopian fiction which is a genre I enjoy. It devolved into horror rather quickly and was terrifyingly creepy. Then the horror became almost humor-horror as the undead characters developed. Character development overall was excellent, especially of the brave kids. I liked the story, the writing was good.....but I felt ambushed when the story devolved into Christian literature about the end times and a struggle between God and the Devil. The ending was not coherent and very unsatisfying.
