Literally the most irritating book I have ever attempted to read.

I wonder if our world was really like this. Invisibility is seen as an awesome superpower but I don't think it would be so awesome if you were never noticed or remembered, even by your parents. Nix and Claire's journey together is incredible.

Excellent world building. The two main characters are Nobodies who are overlooked by everyone. Nix is an assassin while Claire has just been discovered and targeted for death. The world also consists of nulls and Sensors. The actions of the characters stretch the limits of believability.

This novel is a great "comfort read." The author is familiar with the anxieties that beset teenage girls, particularly the conflicting desires to be seen and to be invisible, and depicts these in a way that is emotionally engaging. This tale of an unremarkable heroine's discovery of her supernatural powers is nearly as good as Margaret Mahy's "The Changeover" - and that's saying a lot! The book appeals not only to teens but also to older readers who remember what it felt like.
