Add a CommentErin Jade Lange's diction is absolutely wonderful. She has a superb taste in word choice even when the characters in her book are cursing teenagers who pride on speaking profanity. However, I thought she could work more on the pacing of the story and could have expanded more on Butter's return to everyday life. I was expecting to see how his faux friends react. I wanted to get a glimpse of his decision about his future, be it auditioning for Julliard, heading for BI at Chicago, or continuing on at Scottsdale High. Despite that, his reconciliation with Anna is satisfying. Overall, Butter is quite outstanding as a debut novel.
Definitely upper end YA. Did a brief read through on this one, Butter is someone we can relate to. End seems a little tidy, but hopefully the author makes this a stand-alone novel. Really well done, can't wait to book talk this with teens
You know when a character in a book becomes real to you that you think you can just call them up and they will answer the phone. Gives you a new look at online bullying.
