I was going through a time where I couldn't really sink my teeth into a good book, but when I picked this one up, I read it from beginning to end, no problem.
I must say, that there where some parts that really confused me, but it was-overall- a great story.
I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel!

Overall this was a really good book, but I found some parts really confusing. I haven't read Lesley Livingston's first series so that might have caused my confusion.

Although not completely necessary, I strongly recommend that readers first check out Lesley Livingston's first trilogy starting with Wondrous Strange. followed by Darklight and finally Tempestuous. Without giving to much away, this new story is based in the same "world/setting" as her first one.
Also this book is lovely and highly addictive, I read it in one go.

Mason is a fencer at an academy with other rich people with links to the gods. She ruined her dad's prophecy of having three boys when she as the third child was born as a girl and killed her mom in childbirth. Now the gate has been opened between the fairae realm and earth. Her dad and brother Rory are willing to sacrifice her soul for the end of the world. Who will win?

"What are you?" she repeated. " I mean ... so far this week I've worked my way through storm zombies, lizard mermaids, river goddesses, nasty flying things that I don't even want to know what they were, and stunt doubles for the hounds of the Baskervilles. So. What are you? Demon? Vampire?"
"Vampires don't exist." The man scoffed.
"Right. Silly me."
"I'm a werewolf"
