Summary
Add a SummaryDeuce's whole world has changed. Not only is she the odd one out in the ultra-conservative town of Salvation, being far from a feminine young lady a girl ought to be, but her hunting partner Fade is keeping her at a distance. Her feelings for Fade haven't changed, but his cold attitude confuses and hurts her. Frustrated, Deuce jumps at the chance to join the summer patrol, protecting the planters from the Freaks. But the Freaks are changing, watching, waiting and becoming smarter and smarter as the days pass. Salvation can't survive for much longer, and it may take a girl just like Deuce to save them all.

While Outpost was ultimately enjoyable, I felt that Ann Aguirre was trying a little too hard to get onto the bestseller list. The plot was decent; I could still relate to Deuce fairly well, but there were a lot of things that just felt like they were straight out of a bad Hunger Games fanfiction. (Namely the "romantic" scenes. Those made me really uncomfortable). And I agree; I feel like she's going to kill off ALL of the likable characters. Even though I'm curious about what will happen to the little 'crew', I have no desire whatsoever to read Horde whenever it comes out. From the viewpoint of a writer, there were a number of things that were almost insufferable; at several points I felt as if I had to slog through all of the "blabbity-blah". There were quite a few things that should have been explained, but were not. There were a few other things which I don't care to point out, as I think it may boil down to my personal preference. Overall, I was thoroughly disappointed. It definitely did NOT measure up to the standard that the first book set.
SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK okay, i reallllly didn't like the part where Longshot died. i feel like the author is trying to kill of the good characters. i mean, first she kills off the enclave, and now Longshot, but even then, what's up with Fade?! she was being a total weirdo, and then he wants to go along with them like everything is like it was! even though i didn't like the ending, though, i liked the book overall. it was full of little twists buried deep where you couldn't really see them coming.....or maybe that was just me. anyways, i cannot wait for the third book.
I think the reason I keep continuing with this series is because it's about a zombie (or I guess mutants now) type of dystopian world and we don't see much of that. But if we did, I don't think I'd like this story very much. The protagonist, although I admire her ability and spirit, I don't really like all that much. And even the boys and the love triangle doesn't really intrigue me. But I'm continuing to read because I just want to know what happens to her and the freaks, and alright, maybe a bit with the boys (although we all know, she'll probably end up with fade :P).
this book is awesome. This novel is action packed, full of high emotions, there is death, despair, desperation, prejudice and romance, the romance is important to the plot, but it doesn't take over the adventure and the danger that permeates the daily parts of living in Aguirre's world. All in all, I like this book a better then Enclave. Can't wait for book 3 as I am dying to know what happens next!!! Believe me when I say you will not be disappointed in Outpost!!
In some ways, Outpost was even better than Enclave. This book explored a different kind of "enclave," which was equally interesting. Lots of tension, due to Freaks and her romantic interests, which keeps the book full of energy to the very end. Perfectly sets up yet another compelling experience of this post-apocalyptic world. So excited for the final book!
I didn't want it to end. So good!
GREAT BOOK!!!! Couldn't wait to read what happened next. Some very unexpected event that kept me wanting more :)
