"As war surges in the dystopian society around her, sixteen-year-old Divergent Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love"--
Background info about Divergent: It's all about the Erudite wanting to controll the Dauntless people to attack the Abnegation. Now in Insurgent, Tris, Tobias and others of the Abnegations went to Amity headcorters to seek shelter. The Erudite found out and everyone had to run again. Then one night out of no where two of Tris's friends were being controlled and jumped off the building threatening that if one divergent person is not in the Erudite headcorters by__ this would happen again. Basically, it is a fast pace book with people on the edge of their chairs waiting for what is to come in this book.
A great follow up to the 1st book. In this book Tris trys to stop the madness at Erudite!

Quotes
Add a Quote“I’ll be your family now,” he says. “I love you,” I say. I said that once, before I went to Erudite headquarters, but he was asleep then. I don’t know why I didn’t say it when he could hear it. Maybe I was afraid to trust him with something so personal as my devotion. Or afraid that I did not know what it was to love someone. But now I think the scary thing was not saying it before it was almost too late. Not saying it before it was almost too late for me. I am his, and he is mine, and it has been that way all along. He stares at me. I wait with my hands clutching his arms for stability as he considers his response. He frowns at me. “Say it again.” “Tobias,” I say, “I love you.” His skin is slippery with water and he smells like sweat and my shirt sticks to his arms when he slides them around me. He presses his face to my neck and kisses me right above the collarbone, kisses my cheek, kisses my lips. “I love you, too,” he says.” ― Veronica Roth, Insurgent
“I love Tris the Divergent, who makes decisions apart from faction loyalty, who isn’t some faction archetype. But the Tris who’s trying as hard as she can to destroy herself … I can’t love her.” I want to scream. But not because I’m angry, because I’m afraid he’s right. My hands shake and I grab the hem of my shirt to steady them. He touches his forehead to mine and closes his eyes. “I believe you’re still in there,” he says against my mouth. “Come back.” ― Veronica Roth, Insurgent
“Insurgent, he says. Noun. A person who acts in opposition to the established authority, who is not necessarily regarded as a belligerent.” ― Veronica Roth, Insurgent
“You die, I die too.” Tobias looks over his shoulder at me. “I asked you not to do this. You made your decision. These are the repercussions.” ― Veronica Roth, Insurgent
“I’m not important. Everyone will do just fine without me,” I say. “Who cares about everyone? What about me?” ― Veronica Roth, Insurgent
"I don't have a bullet in my head do I?" (both Tris and Tobias said this line, when they don't want to be bothered) "so I'm fine."
I broke her.
i couldn't put it down!
“People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them.”
Jeez for someone so small your heavy Stiff. ~ Peter to Tris

Add a CommentA book that was much like divergent in all ways except for the ending. A strange way to end an otherwise good book.
Just an amazing sequel to "Divergent" Veronica Roth is A genius. The Dystopian Chicago world with Tris. Four and the gang. All I can say is if you are into YA Dystopian/Action books? This is as good as it gets! If you haven't read "Divergent" then go read it, get hooked, then read "Insurgent" ! ~Tim
this book is amazing cant wait for the next one! To new readers this is the secont book in the trilogy (divergent is the first)
love it. love it. love it. i could say that all day long about this book.
I'm so excited to read this book!! (:
Insurgent picks up where Divergent left off and while there are occasional lulls in action, the pace remains steady. The break up of the balance of the factions as a result of the attack in the previous book is fascinating to explore and the hints at the mystery of what Erudite was after are fascinating. I was slightly frustrated by Tris and Tobias' relationship development as I felt that Tris' decisions in that regard were not explained well for the middle chunk of the novel. However, the novel is totally satisfying as the second installment in the trilogy and I look forward to the final book.
Better than Divergent. Eye popping, Jaw dropping, great ending to the divergent series!
Even better than Divergent because Divergent was just too typical and Insurgent is different. What I mean is that the events that happened in Divergent could happen in almost any futuristic society, but the events in Insurgent could only happen in the factions society.
When's the next book coming???
It will be hard to wait till October for the 3rd book.
